At AICompare, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why, how we use it, and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR — EU Regulation 2016/679).
1. Data Controller
AICompare is the controller of your personal data. For any questions about data protection, contact us at: privacy@compare-ia.com
2. Data We Collect
We collect only strictly necessary data:
• Email address — when you subscribe to our newsletter (legal basis: consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR)
• Anonymised IP address — for affiliate link clicks (legal basis: legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Only the first 3 octets are retained (e.g. 192.168.1.0)
• User-Agent — for click statistics (legal basis: legitimate interest)
• Functional cookies — language preference (NEXT_LOCALE), no consent required
• Analytics/advertising cookies — Google AdSense, only with your explicit consent
3. Purposes of Processing
• Newsletter: sending you the news and offers you requested
• Affiliate statistics: measuring performance of our partner links to improve our service
• Advertising: funding the service via Google AdSense (only after consent)
4. Data Retention
• Newsletter data: retained while you are an active subscriber, then deleted 3 years after the last interaction
• Click data: retained for a maximum of 13 months
• After expiry, data is permanently deleted or anonymised
5. International Transfers
Our database is hosted in Europe (Supabase — Frankfurt, EU). Vercel (site hosting) is a US company covered by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission. Google AdSense (if consented) involves a transfer of data to the United States under the same guarantees.
6. Cookies and Trackers
Functional cookies (no consent required):
• NEXT_LOCALE — remembers your language, duration 1 year
• cookie-consent — remembers your consent choice, duration 1 year
Cookies subject to consent:
• Google AdSense — advertising and analytics cookies
You can change your choice at any time by clicking "Cookie Settings" in the footer.
7. Data Sharing
We never sell your data. We only share with:
• Supabase (DB host): your data under GDPR-compliant data processing agreement
• Vercel (host): anonymised technical logs
• Google (if AdSense consent): browsing data for advertising personalisation
Your GDPR Rights
Right of Access (Art. 15)
Obtain a copy of all data we hold about you.
Right to Rectification (Art. 16)
Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
Right to Erasure (Art. 17)
Request permanent deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten"). Unsubscribe via POST /api/newsletter/unsubscribe.
Right to Data Portability (Art. 20)
Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Right to Object (Art. 21)
Object to processing based on legitimate interest, including advertising profiling.
Right to Lodge a Complaint
Lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority (ICO in the UK, CNIL in France, etc.).
